All Good Funk Alliance – Let’s Execute EP (Super Hi-Fi Recordings)

After quite some time out of the production studio, All Good Funk Alliance’s Francisco Cueto and Rusty Belicek have made their return, dusted things down and struck up the engine that runs their world to produce four brand new Funk originals for their brilliant Let’s Execute EP.

On this particular occasion, it’s the title track that gets things underway and as an opening track, you couldn’t wish for brighter introduction to what lies ahead. The duo are joined by Big Stuff on this one and his slick rhymes are driven along by a groovin’ midtempo beat, razor-sharp synths and funky guitar licks that combine to create a track that will eventually have people flocking to the floor once they get to do so again. If you love a decent wedge of brass in your Funk sandwich, Control Your Roll is gonna satisfy your needs and then some! This time the duo are joined by Black Masala whose horn accompaniment fires up this funky, shoulder swinging jam that comes with slick and sweet synth-driven interludes that give the listener some rest-bite from the filth of the Funk on offer.

To The People is the next track and this one’s the coolest cat of the bunch. It features the unmistakably smooth and soulful tone of the late Mustafa Akbar and the heavenly vocal of Heidi Martin, who team up to deliver a positive message over the laidback and blissed-out groove created by Francisco and Rusty. After the coolness of the last track, we’re hit with a blast of Disco heat to finish with That Chord. Kicking off with intent, heavy synth-stabs are joined by an uptempo and punchy 4/4 beat that fires up the fever and a warped guitar hook that adds a mind-wandering psychedelic twist that will have the dancefloor faithful losing their minds!

We’re sure we’re not the only ones keeping our fingers crossed that there’s more of what we have received here being planned for future releases because as many of us already know, it’s always ‘all good Funk’ when the All Good Funk Alliance is in town!

I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to.
