Axe – Bush Breaks (Album)

After blogging for a few years now, I have learnt to have a fairly regular check through my junk emails because more often than not, a label or producer has sent me music that is pretty damn decent and deserves not to be deleted along with the millions on offer from Nigerian princes and other various scams that want our money!

A few days ago I did have one of those searches and discovered an email sent from an Australian producer that goes by the name of Axe. He himself has made music before but has made nothing for over 5 years now. Back when he was making music he, by his own admission, wasn’t entirely happy with the overall quality of his work and decided to take some time out and brush up on his production skills so as to be able to push things forward. The result of that work and a long road trip through the Australian outback, the idea sprang into his mind to make an album and the bush would be the inspiration for it.

‘Bush Breaks’ is the culmination of all that inspiration and onboard Axe’s new album are 10 free tracks packed with vocal samples, wildlife fx, bass and a whole load of broken beat action! Opening with the mind-awakening downtempo Breaks track ‘Mornin’ Call’, your mind will soon be refreshed and ready to take in crunchy, chunky Glitch Hop and midtempo Breaks bangers like ‘Marvelous Time’ and ‘Whip It’, all to the floor peak-timers like ‘Hoedown (Live at Wonglepong)’ and ‘An Old Yarn’ and lush offerings like ‘Wood Heap’ and the closing track ‘Goonoo’. Wherever you turn on this album, there’s a great piece of music just waiting to make your day! All we can hope for is that Axe now has the production bug for good and more excellent music heads our way from him.
