To end the year on a high the imprint has released the fourth volume of it’s mighty ‘FreeFat’ EP series that’s packing 6 huge Breakbeat reworks of familiar and not so familiar music.
Co-owner of Big Fat Mama Beats Pulpfusion kicks things off in fine style with a destructive Breaks rework of ‘Sweet Emotion’ by Aerosmith. South African producer Sonale follows with two tracks of his own. The first is a wonky Breaks take on EMF‘s 90’s hit ‘Unbelievable’ and the second is a funky and brass-heavy rework of The Doors ‘Peace Frog’. The Funk Philosopher gets to grip with ‘Funky Heroes’ by Afrika Bambaataa and even though it starts out at a moderate pace, it’s not long before it morphs into a Glitch Hop monster! Newcomer to the Breaks scene Fortis, enters the fray with a super solid and fiery rework of ‘Libres De Expression’ by DFuckCrew. Completing this epic journey of Breaks is Phunkzilla with a gritty retake of Blondie Redhead‘s macabre ‘For the Damaged Coda’. Big beats for any big occasion!
