Bush Doctors – Medicine Show 10th Anniversary Edition (Bona Fido)

10 years ago, Breakbeat legends Rennie Pilgrem (Thursday Club Recordings) and Jem Panufnik (Soul of Man / Finger Lickin’ Records) teamed up under their guise of Bush Doctors to release their landmark and altogether epic album ‘Bush Doctors Medicine Show’. A decade on, they’re now celebrating with an action-packed 10th-anniversary edition of that album featuring re-polished classics and exclusive and hard-to-find mixes!

In terms of the much-loved classics, we’re once again met with tracks such as the block-rockin’ and groove-driven opener ‘Rockin’ on a Speaker’, the intense tribal groove of the cosmically-charged ‘Space Hoppa’ and the downright funky groove of the Disco-tinged ‘Night Train’ and if you think that’s a lot of groove already, there’s so much more of it to be felt! The bonus additions to their 10th-anniversary offering include the wild and pulsating ‘There’s A Ghost In My House’ feat. Heather McCallum, the thumping Nu-Disco inferno ‘Turn It Out’ and Jem’s low-slung and downright sleazy rework of ‘Worlds Apart’.

That’s not all though folks because there is one more bonus track to be had and it just so happens to be a track that none of us have ever had the chance to own before! The track in question is Jem’s brilliant ‘Birth of Bush Doctors’ remix of Rennie’s ‘Can’t Stop’ feat. NineLives The Cat. The reason behind the title of Jem’s remix can be best heard being explained by Jem himself in an interview he did with his good friend and fellow Breaks legend Janette Slack on her ‘Beats & Peaces’ show on Hong Kong based Clockenflap Music. They chat about all things Finger Lickin’, his artwork, his label Bona Fido, how the Bush Doctors came about and so much more! With the in-depth and informative interview and the incredible ‘Medicine Show 10th Anniversary Edition’ to listen to, there’s absolutely nothing not to love here!
