Calling The Hardcore Vol One [Rave Radio Records]

Calling The Hardcore! Rave Radio Records present a triple pack vinyl VA featuring legends and the latest and greatest new talent from the Breakbeat Hardcore and Rave scene! Pre Order Here

When an album begins with a remix of Ellis Dee aka Norty But Nice ‘Give It To Me’, you know its going to be special! The aforementioned remix brings the mid 90s uplifting hardcore classic nicely up to date with more a breaks feel. KeeZee is up next with his signature pristine production and that unique NuSkool fusion of early darkside proto jungle and modern hardcore breaks. ‘BAAD!’ is a spectacular drum workout that brings together 3 decades of the hardcore sound in one explosive tune!

Staying on the darkside tip, Damage Inc drop a darkside monster straight from the Amiga! ‘(You Take Me) Higher & Higher’ has the vibe of a  modern take on DJ Hype’s ‘Weird Energy’, a witches cauldron of slammin’ breaks, horror movie sounds and booming dark keys. Next up is a personal fave for this blogger. Dave Skywalker does the unthinkable by combining Top Gear samples with heavy duty mentasms on ‘The Growler’, its fun, it bangs hard with elements of early 90s Hardcore Techno (Coxy would have played this!), and yet, we still get a nice bit of uplifting piano!

TRY UNITY serve up another huge dose of addictive piano rave. Once again, exemplifying the Fantasia/Dreamscape festival rave sound of 92, TRY UNITY produce a a handraiser and a perennial earworm of enjoyment for 92 lovers like yours truly and countless more! From 92 to 93, Systec & Sir Rce relive the Slammin Vinyl sound with fast crunchy, alternating breaks, ecstatic pianos, half time drops, cut and paste beats sections plus a side order of angry mentasms!

A NuSkool pioneer from the early noughties inception of the BV2OS forum, DJ Jedi doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to ultra-authentic breakbeat hardcore. ‘Acid Test; is all that and more, a slick progression through bouncing breaks and acid 303s into hoovers and Korg keys. InnerCore powers through intense breaks from the tougher side of 92 hardcore on ‘Slammin Dat.’ The title is apt as demonstrated by hard stabs interspersed with rushy piano.

From one oldskool legend to another. Ron Wells contributes a Hardcore/Jungle gem worth its weight in gold. A fusion of House, Hardcore and Techno with lush melodies, vocals and signature Basment Recs synth patterns. Quite literally just like the good old raving days!

Raving Overdose Productions work up a 92 esque Jungle Tekno storm with ‘Losing U’, a twist and blend of snaking subs, ravey riffs and dreamy progressive drops.

Blackmass Plastics take things into more experimental, techno influenced regions with ‘Bassrock X.’ A Star Wars like cinematic sample gets sped into a twisted riff for a dark headrush of a tune the likes of which would have surely graced the decks of the late DJ Tango back in 92.

This exceptional VA reaches completion with a track by Hardcore Breaks veterans, Nervous & Anxious. The atmospheric and melodic ‘Industria’ has shades of golden era Suburban Base. The current breakbeat scene is ultra-competitive with a string of high quality releases. Rave Radio and the artist on this comp just raised that bar.
