Coco Bryce-Pretty Like U EP [Kniteforce Records]

One of the hottest new talents in the modern Hardcore/Jungle scene, Coco Bryce lands on Kniteforce Records with his ‘Pretty Like U’ EP

With an array of top DJs from the DnB, Jungle & Hardcore circuits playing his tracks, Coco Bryce is a major name in today’s hardcore continuum. Anyone who has heard his prolific releases on labels like Myor know what to expect!!!

The EP kicks off with a pumping 4 beat hardcore title track. Those familiar with the Happy Hardcore sound of 94/95 will appreciate the nuances that make this tune sound like it truly is from that era. There is no mistaking those bouncey kicks and amen breaks and the way they work. The juxtaposition of dark techno riffs and more house than happy piano cement this one as a reload weapon of choice.

Fans of Denham Audio, LMajor & Mani Festo will love the London Centric 130BPM rave of ‘I Will Never Turn Away.’ With riffs straight from the Manix blueprint and eerie Eastern sounds, this is a Hardcore Jungle roller that sits snugly into a House or Techno DJ mix. I’m sure this will make its way into the DJ wallet of Special Request and co and I fully expect to hear it get a play on the Beeb!

FFF’s remix of ‘I Will Never Turn Away’ has the chilled halfway Jungle/Jungle Tekno thing down to a tee. Those stabs playback a dusty crates worth of Ibiza Recs/Reinforced/Formation Proto Junglism to the rolling breaks and heavy atmos of circa 94 Jungle.

‘Restless Soul’ hits all the right places with analogue style breaks and oldskool stabs full of machine soul. The track literally fizzles with electric sparks at times between lush female vocals and a gorgeous drop with a touch of super early Bukem.

To mix things up, a cool DJ tool at the HIp Hop tempo called ‘The Force Will Be With You’ features some cool scratching and even cooler samples. We knew Mr Bryce would be on his A game for this EP and the results are for you to hear!!!
