Cyclonix – Kaleidovibic EP

Cyclonix drops the aptly named ‘Kaleidovibic EP’ on Amalgama Music. Prepare for deep, jazzy broken beats that will delight!

‘Churches’ opens proceedings with a UK Garage/Funky influenced blend of stabby strings and swinging beats.

Somejerk takes this opening track into a blissful Jazzy realm with hints of Aquasky, mid 90s Moving Shadow and the early 00s Nu Skool Breaks sound.

‘Slaine’ digs in to the bass with Sci Fi FX, acid 303s, layers of percs and the squelchy basslines that were a staple of golden era breaks.

‘So Crazy’ takes on the Footwork/Juke sound with a pitched down breaks approach, showered with claps,  vocal refrains and off the wall funky riffs.

‘Thrax’ throws back to the early 80s with an Apache style break and B Boy claps and percs. Time bends for a track where the minimalist whirls and clicks of Techno meet oldskool Electro and Hip Hop.

‘Trip’ signs off the EP with a hazy, psychedelic electro groove. Mind expanding synths flow across echoey, bumpy breaks fine tuned for late night excursions. To borrow a line from Twin Peaks, this EP is ‘both wonderful and strange.’
