Disco Funkin’, Vol. 1: Curated by Shaka Loves You (Bombstrikes)

It doesn’t seem to matter what avenue Bombstrikes chooses to head down, the one element that always remains at the heart of all it does is Funk. That has been shown at its most prevalent with its outstanding array of compilation albums where guest artists are invited to compile each album with their favourite music, new and old.

So far, Bomstrikes ‘Funk n’ Beats’ albums have ticked along to volume 6 and have been represented by the likes of Smoove, Fort Knox Five, The Allergies, Featurecast, Beatvandals and Pimpsoul. Its ‘Bass Funk’ albums have so far reached volume 4 and Featurecast, Dubra and label co-owner Mooqee have taken control of those. Always wanting to keep expanding its horizons though, the Bombstrikes team have chosen – that with Funk as the main player – Disco is the new route their heading down and who else to call on for ‘Disco Funkin’ Vol. 1′ than Shaka Loves You!

We’ve been fans of the Glaswegian duo for quite some time now and as we’ve featured a lot of their music on our blog, we and we’re sure many of you will be expecting great things from their carefully chosen selection of Disco Funk tunes and we’re pleased to report great things have been achieved with ease! Only the funkiest of Disco tracks have made it onto the album which, as mentioned, brings together stone cold classics, new discoveries and exclusive music across a range of styles and tempos from artists such as Chali 2na, Smoove & Turrell, X-Ray Ted, The Reflex, Dimitri From Paris, Fullee Love and Gizelle Smith to name just a few.  Of course, Shaka Loves You have music on the album too and one of their tracks to feature on it is their brand new party-popper ‘Take Me To The Top’ featuring the very awesome UK singer/songwriter Maddy.

It doesn’t come as that much of a surprise that the guys have pulled things of fine style with ‘Disco Funkin’ Vol. 1′, but with the bar set so high, we’re interested to find out what lies in store on volume 2. For now, though, it’s time to get your groove on!
