Erma Franklin – Light My Fire (DJ Spector Rework)

I’m not sure whether it’s just me who lucks out on a fairly regular basis, but Soundcloud does throw up some cracking recommendations from time to time! One of them that recently lit up my life after the track I had chosen to play had finished is DJ Spector‘s short yet super sweet rework of Erma Frankin‘s 1969 cover of The Doors‘ 1967 classic Light My Fire. An increase in tempo, a slightly tougher kick to the drums and Erma’s powerhouse vocal makes this funky midtempo Breaks rework a truly irresistable one!

This particular rework is a couple of years old now, but as a recent discovery, an instant attraction towards it came about which meant that it got a share. Newer music with the same classy feel can be found on DJ Spector’s Soundcloud page along with a lot of older stuff too and trust me, the digging is well worth it.
