Ghost Unit – Ghosts Of Future Past EP [Underdog Recordings] · Ghost Unit – Ghosts Of Future Past EP – Underdog Recordings – UDR015 – preview clips

Ghost Unit visit ‘Ghosts Of Future Past’ via their latest Jungle EP for Underdog Recordings.

‘Take Me Up’ immediately ramps up the atmosphere with string laden 170BPM Jungle in the style of Foul Play and Omni Trio. Here you have a tune that would fit nicely into a DnB set by virtue of the electric, haunting melodies and the occasional diversion into a pit of gurgling bass mayhem!

‘Keep Dancing’ is Ragga Jungle done properly with shades of Krome & Time, plenty of sirens, Ragga chants and Dancehall Reggae breakdowns. Rodigan would love this one!!!

Here’s where it gets interesting. ‘Air Cooled’ is a retrofit Oldskool Hardcore themed 130 Jungle roller that employs spellbinding keys in contrast to fierce Hardcore mentasms and DnB style basslines to maximum effect.

‘4am’ blurs the lines between Prog/Trance, Breaks, Hardcore & Jungle based on the foundation of a sample made famous by Orca. You know it, its on the tip of your tongue, those lyrics “you look like you’re in a different world” remind you of the winking Hardcore tune from way back when. We get a more generous sample of that song with Kosheen style Proggy synths and Ray Keith ‘Terrorist’ basslines at a tempo that fits a variety of genres without shedding that Jungle identity. 4 golden tunes for you vinylists!!!
