UK based Hansi makes a welcomed return to the ward with volume 9 in his immaculate EP series ‘Funky Grooves’. As always, there’s four real high quality edits to be found and the first of these on this new EP is his respectful mashup of King Tubby’s 70’s dub track ‘I & I Survive’ with the acapella of Doug E Fresh from his track ‘It’s On’. This one’s got that easy going vibe that everyone’s gonna dig! Hamilton Bohannon‘s 1978 track ‘Summertime Groove’ is the next one to be given the Hansi touch and a lift in tempo and few extra funk enhancements will have you strutting your stuff everywhere you go whilst it’s in your ears.
Another edit that’ll have you wishing you could be transported to a dance floor immediately is the third track ‘Shake Your Booty’ which is an upbeat take on KC and The Sunshine Band’s 1976 smash hit. The groove is hitting it’s limiter on this one and the positivity it’s handing out is the kind you can really get addicted too. All good things must come end and this EP is finishing on an absolute high as Hansi funks up Nina Simone’s ‘Save Me’ with his sizzling rendition.
