Katakana Edits Vol.76 : Dj Laurel

Katakana Edits is a regular supplier of some of the hottest Funk and Disco EP’s in town and it’s from one of its regular suppliers of that very kind of music that takes the reigns of volume 76. That man is Dj Laurel and his return to the label sees him bring 5 tried and tested tracks to light up your world!

Within the first 20 seconds of the opening track ‘Jam Jam Jam’, you know you’re already on to a winner with this EP. The groovy bassline and funky guitar on Dj Laurel’s revision of People’s Choice‘s original provide the perfect opener to a track that explodes into a straight out Disco stomper that’s dripping with Funk. The tempo remains high as we’re greeted next with another slab of peak-time Disco action in ‘I Will Get You Some Help’ which leads very nicely onto the piano-heavy party machine ‘Going For Another One’. The high-octane energy provided by the first 3 tracks is brought down just a touch as the lush sounds of ‘Just A Matter Of Time’ fills the airwaves with a glitzy feel. Finishing things off in fine style is Dj Laurel’s epic spin on ‘Shame’ by the legendary Evelyn “Champagne” King and that can only mean the ending is as glamorous as it sounds. Quality rocks everywhere you turn on this EP, we’re sure you’ll agree.

: I'm Sid, a dude from Lincolnshire. I'll be bringing you music from the perspective of the dance floor, the place I love to be most! I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to.
