Katakana Edits Vol.79: Streamer

Amsterdam based Brit Streamer is a producer who we only discovered in the summer of 2018 and ever since then he’s proved time and again that there’s just no guessing as to the style of his next wonderfully crafted remix or edit. To keep that theme going, he’s put together 4 brilliant tracks with a heavy dose of familiarity for volume 79 of the always on the on-point Katakana Edits EP series.

House Of Pain‘s infamous ‘Jump Around’ is the first of the familiar tracks to be remixed and hold the eye roll for just a few seconds, because Streamer’s Acid Funk twist stands a very good chance of being the one you turn to in the future for when you’re wanting to grab the crowds attention with a surprising interlude of party fuelled fun. ‘The Fastest Gumbo’ is next up and the first 20 seconds of this track may well lead you down the wrong track, as the easy-going intro bursts into a rap-sporting D n B roller with Rockabilly and Blues influences that will not fail to bring a smile to your face.

Back to the familiarity and along comes a remix of Beats International‘s ‘Dub Be Good To Me’. Again, Streamer dazzles us with his horn-heavy Bossa makeover that will have even the most lukewarm fan of Strictly Come Dancing busting out every Samba move that comes to memory and if that’s exactly what you’re doing, it’s a 10 from LSM! After such an epic journey, why not finish with a bit of James Brown and a dub-wise Funksploitation twist on ‘I Feel Good’. Big on brass once again, the dusty broken beats and naughty bass hook will undoubtedly have you heading back for more!
