With plenty of catching up to do on the music released by the ever-impressive Breakbeat imprint Big Fat Mama Beats, I’ve first got to head back a couple of months to bring you this brilliant ‘Shake N Break’ EP from Leygo that’s so damn hot, you’ll be left feeling well done and crispy around the edges after a listen!
4 tracks make up this mammoth offering of Breakbeat and kicking things off is ‘Get It Tonight’ which is a snarling beast of a tune that samples a familiar vocal hook and is paired with filthy beats and a naughty bassline. Next up is ‘Music’ and if you’re a fan of wall-melting tearout Breaks with huge vocals akin to the type of music once made by Pyramid, this one has your name all over it! ‘Rock Me Baby’ follows and even though there’s a decent lick of Funk in this one, it’s still a brute that’s gonna batter the dancefloor good and proper. ‘Vital Signs’ is the closing track and it just happens to be my pick of the bunch because it’s Leygo’s superb twist on a Drumattic Twins classic that is also heavy on the piano front too. With party plans being hatched for when the lockdown hopefully ends proper in the not too distant future, this quartet of bangers will help make them ones to remember!
