Midnight Heist is the newly formed duo of a pair of venerable DJ/producers who have roots heavily connected to Finger Lickin’ Records. For now, the identity of them both is top secret, but what we can tell you is that on the way you can expect to hear the chunkiest and funkiest re-edits, bootlegs and remixes, plus some very exciting classic Breaks and Big Beat tunes that have never been available on digital format. You can catch them all when they’re released on Midnight Heist’s new label, Bona Fido, which has been created as the vehicle to ship these upcoming gems straight into your lives.
The first offering from Midnight Heist is their 2 track EP ‘Play With Fire’, which has seen them put a couple of different spins on Ohio Players’ ‘Fire’. ‘Don’t Play With Fire’ is the first up and this one’s packing some serious heat. Heavy on funk, heavy on groove and a real party stomper. ‘Play With Fire’ acts as the dub version of the two tracks and is the more stripped back of the pair. It’s still got some groove goin’ on, but this one’s playin’ it cool, real cool.
