Mined & Forrest – Coming Through EP (Breakbeat Paradise)

Next off the production line at the Breakbeat Paradise HQ comes this brand new EP from the German duo Mined & Forrest with remixes in tow from Funkanizer and Blockboy.

It’s not the first time BBP and Mined & Forrest have teamed up and just as with the music that has gone before, their ‘Coming Through’ EP is once again packing bangers and something a little sublime. The title track is the opener and although the tempo is low, the speaker ripping bassline, guitar riffs and heavy broken beats mean it’s gonna be felt wherever it lands. Following on and not to be outdone on the heaviness front comes ‘Rock On’ which invites you to do just that with a barrage of Breaks – this time of a more midtempo variety – electric guitar and if anything, even more bass and attitude. Next up is one of the slices of sublime mentioned earlier. On ‘I Would Fall’ the duo have teamed up with LAWN, Stephanie Lottermoser and Eve Lamell for an atmospheric bass roller. Add in heavenly vocals and a lush lick of sax and you’ve got a track that’ll keep you warm should the cold decide to return.

The next track on the EP is the first of the two remixes and it comes from Funkanizer. He has remixed one of Mined & Forrest’s older tracks ‘Funk Toxic’ which can be found on their ‘There It Is’ EP on BBP. Funkanizer takes us from sublime into something that’s definitely sizzling as the horns come out to play on his uptempo remix with a groove that’s gonna make you move. The second slice of sublime and the final track on the EP comes from Blockboy with a Trip Hop influenced remix of ‘I Would Fall’. The beats do have a hefty kick, but mellow tones and gorgeous downtempo glow temper them for another magical ride.
