Monki – Voices EP (&Friends)

Following on from the success of her ‘Monki & Friends’ EP series, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Monki is embarking on a new mission with her brand new imprint &Friends. This will now be the home for music that heightens her senses and it will plucked from a pool of talented rising stars from the worlds of House, Techno and a bit of Disco, along with more established names from those aforementioned scenes. &Friends will now be the home for Monki’s own music and that’s right where we’re at with her debut EP ‘Voices’.

The title track of the EP is where we begin and if there was ever a tune to transport you to a sun kissed terrace knees up, or a beach party that’s in full swing, this is the one! Eagle eared music fans will soon pick up on the acapella used from The Police’s ‘Voices In My Head’ and with that woven into Disco tinged House groove that gathers traction as the track progresses, you have one surefire anthem for the summer ahead.

If ‘Voices’ gave a slight hint of Disco, the second track ‘Love Magic’ leaves you in no doubts as to what what kind of spell you’ll be under. This Disco House delight is as bright as a button and has all the glitz and glamour to really get heads turning on the dance floor, every single time it’s spun. Keep your ears peeled in those festival fields this summer as we predict both of these tracks will be getting plenty of action.

If Monki’s sound is something you dig, catch her on BBC Radio 1 every Sunday from 1am and on 1Xtra every Monday from 10pm.

: I'm Sid, a dude from Lincolnshire. I'll be bringing you music from the perspective of the dance floor, the place I love to be most! I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to. Selection and connection is the name of the game.
