Movement – The Bodyguard

Fresh out on Boomsha, Movement combine oldskool elements and up to date production for their own unique take on the Jungle sound for ‘The Bodyguard EP’

Starting with ‘Fragmented Forms’ which might just be one of this writer’s favourite tracks of 2018. The breaks are slowed right down to a pace suited to the 91/92 era of proto jungle but the burrowing bassline and haunting vox belong to 1994/95.

Next up, the title track, a mesmerising slice of minimalism with shades of the late 90s DnB sound strapped to eerie flutes and firing percussion.

‘The Tempest’ morphs from warm beginnings into a future scape of stripped back bass and breaks, the true sound of things to come.

‘Kenjutsu’ rattles with a battle ensemble of drums, psychedelic eastern strings and eleasticated bass.

‘Jacks Lake’ ends this fine EP in an experimental fashion with soulful keys set to a mind bending breakbeat. Jungle with a difference but 100% jungle.
