Omegaman – Lovers Rocksteady EP (Fort Knox Recordings)

Sydney based Omegaman delivers a simply stunning selection of vocal-led Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady influenced tracks on his brilliant Lovers Rocksteady EP on Fort Knox Recordings. If you’re looking for music to soundtrack your summer, you need to look no further than the 5 tracks on ‘Lovers Rocksteady’. The quality of the music on offer and its ability to drive in wave after wave of happiness are just a couple of things that are impossible to ignore.

First up is Fool Fool Tings, a classic and uplifting Ska scorcher that features Patou (Melbourne Ska Orchestra), a vocalist who Omegaman has worked with on several occasions and one who knows his way around a skanking and infectious beat. The blazing horns come courtesy of young newcomers The Ska-stards and seal the deal on making it one of those day-making pieces of music!

If you’re feeling the burn from the EP opener, you’ll be happy to hear the gentle and soothing tones of Courtney Rachel (The Baldwins) on the sublime Forever You & I. There’s a good chance that not many holidays will happen this year, but the cool Reggae vibes exuding from this one will have your mind transporting you to the beach of your choice while still be able to harness all of the warmth and calmness you would otherwise have missed.

The third track Omega Rocksteady is an infectious little number that takes a swaggering rocksteady stance and brings another welcomed dose of brass and vocalists Patou, Katherine Vavahea and Tess Aboud, who come together to create a vibrant party atmosphere everyone will want to get involved with. If you like a bit of bump n grind on the dancefloor, this one will be a winner for you!

The bitter-sweet sounds of There She Goes is up next and this lush downtempo ditty has the tale of the ups and downs of summer love laid bare by C-Major and if some of you recognise his name, it is the C-Major from The Voice Australia. His addition to the smooth and steady Reggae sounds provided by Omegaman has got my turning my chair!

Closing his mightily impressive EP, Omegaman invites you onboard to prepare for take-off with the spirit-raising Fly. Joining him this time on his lush rocksteady tune are soul-sisters Isis Ashton and Alpha Mama and between them all, they create another stunner for the summer!
