One Love Festival 2014 – Moved to Milton Keynes

For 7 years, One Love has being going from strength to strength and the UK roots scene has never been so strong. One Love Festival was launched in 2008, a date which marked the 30th anniversary of an infamous Bob Marley concert of the same name. The festival is built on a foundation of peace and love, truth and rights, equality and justice.

Having just moved out of London and so not being able (or bothered enough) to attend Notting Hill Carnival, one of the largest street festivals in the world, I was well pleased to discover the UK’s no.1 reggae festival was on my doorstep in Leighton Buzzard! But alas, the One Love blog just announced that:

Due to rapid growth, One Love festival 2014 has moved venue – just 10 mins up the road:

Springfield Farm, Salden Lane, Milton Keynes, MK17 0PN

Not that that’s a problem – its only another 10 mins up the road and I can do it all with just a few taxi rides. For anyone looking to go by train or coach, going to Milton Keynes is easy from London, with coach offering you the cheapest option but train the fastest, and likely the most convenience in terms of leg room and overall space. The journey by this mode of transport will take you a mere 38 minutes.

How does One Love compare to Notting Hill though? Totally different animals altogether. If unmanageable crowds, getting split up from friends, ushered around by the law, not being able to get anywhere or see anything, and having to negotiate public transport whenever tube stations within a 2 mile radius is shut sounds like a fun day out – Notting Hills perfect for you. If you’re all about the bass and positive vibes, check out One Love.

It’s gonna be great – more info about the festival in this promo video:

If you’re going, let me know and bring your wobbliest dub boots with you.
