Reach LDN Promo Mix, Launch Party News and Interview With Nicky D’Silva
Reach LDN is the creation of one the most infectious characters in the underground Electronic music scene, Nicky D’Silva. Nicky has been quite literally smashing out music for sometime know with work under the guise, Ctrl Z with Tommy Dash and one half of the incredible, Pyramid, with his brother in arms, Scott Maclean aka Ken Mac. With Scott now finding himself buying someone else’s trash to turn into treasure on Storage Hunters UK, Nicky is taking his energy – which without doubt he has bags of – and is putting it all into his new project, Reach LDN.
Reach LDN is by no means a solo project. Nicky is at the helm of what is a rocket ship of talent from London and Australia making this collective one to be reckoned with! It’s all systems go for this new label with some real vibrant releases on the way along the lines of the mix posted, mixed by Nicky & Mannerism and Nicky’s remix he has done for chart topping Drum n Bass outfit, Sigma.
And there’s more! Reach LDN kicks off in style this Friday 7th August with a huge launch party at, The Garage in London. You can get all the info on that, the artists playing on the night, the artists in the collective and what Reach LDN is all about in this interview with Nicky that was very kindly sorted out for us by our good friends over at On The Rise Promotions.
LSM : Thanks for your time Nicky. Could you tell us the musical ethos behind Reach LDN (both the music and the night)?
Nicky : Reach LDN is all about the diversity in the music we play, with a strong ethos in Bass music. D&B at the forefront, but representing Jungle, House, Dub, Reggae and Trap.
LSM : Tell us a bit about the artist and remixers that will be releasing music on the label.
Nicky : I will be heading the initial release; we may have a remix from Jaded in the pipeline. Mannerism is also one of the new dj’s and artists we will be pushing.
LSM : When’s the launch party and who will be playing at it?
LSM : Who are your musical influences?
Nicky : The people who I have grown up around producing hugely influence me. The likes of Sigma, Gorgon City and TMS. I am also a huge fan of old skool Garage, Jungle, Drum n Bass and Breaks, which I was once heavily involved in.
LSM: What are your future plans for the night and the label?
Nicky : This is just the beginning. We have two release lined up for later in the year, both double A sides and we have two more nights later in the year, with some very special guests!
LSM : If you could put together a dream lineup for a club night who would be on it? New or old, dead or alive?
LSM : Can you give us your top 5 tunes that will be played on the night?
Nicky : 1. D’Silva – Fever feat. Nina Schofield (Life)
2. D’Silva – My Everything (Reach LDN)
3. D’Silva – Temperature Rising feat. Lord Kimo (Reach LDN)
4. Chris Malinchak – Happiness (D’Silva bootleg)
5. Sigma feat Ella Henderson – Gliterball (D’Silva remix)
LSM : What kind of vibes can people expect on the night?
Nicky : All types of Bass music. Grimy, dirty, sexy, raw!
LSM : What have been your favourite 5 places you’ve played in the world so far in your career?
LSM : And finally any shout outs you want to give?
Nicky : Of course, big ups to IC3, King Yoof, David Boomah, Sigma, Navigator, LionDub, Jaded, Blackbutter and all the Reach LDN team.
