The Rebel Alliance EP [Jedi recordings]

Jedi Recordings makes a welcome return with a fresh VA of Breakbeat Hardcore & Jungle featuring Keezee, Breakbeatscientist, Worldwide Epidemic & DJ Jedi…

The Rebel Alliance VA kicks off with a HUGE atmospheric techno influenced Jungle roller by Keezee. ‘Into The Depth’ is the quintessential 1994 style amen tearout rhythm with ethereal chords, slick drum programming and huge wails. Its like listening to the Jungle Mania LPs all over again!

Strictly Nuskool Blog writer, Breakbeatscientist favours the 1992 breakbeat darkcore style with the immensely fun ‘You’re Really Scaring Me’, a track that kicks off with mysterious strings and heavy rolling breaks before unleashing a SAVAGE bassline! One to send the ravers into dancefloor anarchy!

If you haven’t heard Worldwide Epidemic’s tunes until now, you really have been missing out. Heavily influenced by Ron Wells and the Basement Records sound, Worldwide Epidemic has mastered that unique 93-94 Jungle Tekno sound of 4×4 led kicks and breaks with gorgeous strings and melodies. ‘Curious’ is yet another fine example of the deeper side of hardcore, inteligent, engaging and enchanting.

The EP rounds up with bossman, DJ Jedi. ‘Feel It’ has the perfect piano, chords that strike a hopeful euphoria a la ‘Made In Two Minutes.’ Oldskool ravers will get that head tingle as soon as the pianos kick in over those crunchy breaks. The wonder and happiness precedes sections of pure 1992 electrified breakbeat hardcore synth stabs including what this writer refers to as the ‘SL2’ synth, a sound I cannot ever get enough of. Another instant classic from DJ Jedi

The Rebel Alliance EP is another example and proof that great Hardcore & Jungle doesn’t have to be from the 90s. These tracks are brand new and they are brilliant!
