RocknRolla Soundsystem – New Music

I’ve been fortunate enough to have discovered many talented artists since I’ve been blogging and RocknRolla Soundsystem are right up there as some of my very favourites to have been found. I forget now who it was that re-posted one of their tracks on Soundcloud but who ever it was, thank you!

I think it’s fairly clear that I’m quite partial to music that’s heavily laced with Funk and although I do love the phat and bouncy 110bpm variety a lot, when you’ve been stomping on the dance floor for 20+ years like I have, it’s a real pleasure to find music that you can settle into on the dance floor and just get your groove on and this is where RocknRolla Soundsystem fit the bill perfectly.

If you’ve not caught any of the previous posts of theirs by myself, these guys are edit specialists and the refined Funk n Soul twists they apply to their edits are out of this world. Here for us all to experience their classy sound is two new EP’s from them. The first of these EP’s has been released on the funky givers of music, Springbok Records and features 2 incredible mashups. ‘Goin Back To Cali‘ brings together Biggie SmallsPeech Boys and The Beegees for an old skool flavoured Hip Hop/Disco masterpiece. Dropping in with similar stature is ‘Jolene, How You Want It’ and this time it’s 2pac, Dolly Parton and Michael Jackson that get pieced together with extreme precision for another stone cold groover.

Those two tracks will have quite possibly blown your minds, so get them pieced back together sharpish as there’s another three tracks to be found on ‘Katakana Edits Vol.49‘ that are gonna do it all over again. Their sprinkled their magic over music by Laura Lee, The O’Jays and Johnny Bristol and the results are as spectacular as ever! Just to add a cherry on top of this super tasty music cake, the Rocknrolla guys have put together the coolest video for the third track off the EP ‘Morganton North Carolina‘ that features their rollerskate promo team. It’s well worth a watch!

: I'm Sid, a dude from Lincolnshire. I'll be bringing you music from the perspective of the dance floor, the place I love to be most! I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to. Selection and connection is the name of the game.
