Ross Go – Flava for Ya Ear EP (Cuttin’ It Fine)

Towards the end of 2019 Cuttin’ It Fine signed its newest recruit, Vancouver based Ross Go and a couple of weeks before Christmas, his debut EP ‘Flava For Ya Ear’ landed to the delight funky Breaks lovers all around the globe. Some of you will already be familiar with the flava of Funk Ross Go lays down as we’ve had him here on LSM a couple of times before, but for those who are newcomers to his sound, get tuned into his 4 track EP to get yourselves fully acquainted with what he’s all about.

Leading the way is the title track of the EP which brings fresh guitar and horn licks on a funky flip of Craig Mack‘s classic cut of the same name. ‘Got To Get Down’ is next and because it’s the most uptempo tune of the funky bunch, it’s exactly how you’ll feel when you hear it. ‘Rock Y’all’ takes us back to a more solid midtempo sound with a groove-heavy soundtrack providing the perfect backdrop to a stack of classic Hip Hop vox that many will instantly recognise. To end the EP we head off on a slight tangent with ‘Work It’ and its 70s French-themed twist on a Missy Elliott classic. With all the music considered, it’s fair to say that Ross Go’s debut on Cuttin’ It Fine is a damn fine one.
