Thunderball – Bulletproof: B-Sides and Rarities Free Download Competition
Following on from their mind-blowing ‘Declassified: Remixes’ album, Washington, DC based, Thunderball (who many of you now know as Fort Knox Five) have put together another album of epic proportions with their 16 tracker ‘Bulletproof: B-Sides and Rarities’. The good news does not stop there, oh no, because we’ve been very fortunate to have been handed 5 free copies of the album to give away to you, our followers and readers. More on that to come.
The 16 original and remixed tracks on ‘Bulletproof: B-Sides and Rarities’ have once again been compiled from an unearthed bounty of music that was discovered when Thunderball made the transition back home to Fort Knox Recordings. Included on the album are tracks that have never seen the light of day, as well as ones that were only released on vinyl and on compilation albums.
There’s a myriad of sounds to be found on the album including crisp Bossa infused Drum n Bass on tunes like the previously unreleased opener ‘If Knowledge Is Power’ which features the vocal talents of US3 front man, Akil Dasan, and the second track on the album ‘Bubbles & Bossa’ which features the delicate tones of, Miss Johanna M. Broken beats packed with real funk are bound to be found somewhere on an album from these guys and a couple of real stand out ones for me are the horn and groove heavy ‘The Cobra Connection’ feat. Hutchy and the feverish ‘Calavera Soul’.
A worldly vibe can be found on the sitar laced broken beat tunes ‘Stereo Tonic (Thunderball Stereo Beats Mix)’ and ‘Welcome Back Chopper’. Downtempo and party vibes covered here. Thunderball’s great friend Mustafa Akbar has been a fixture on various tracks of theirs for a very long time now and he features on a couple of top quality tracks on this album. ‘Bring Back the Track’ is high on funk with a heavy lick of wah wah guitar, while ‘Heart Of The Hustler’ is a far more chilled affair as Thunderball put a heavy dub inspired spin on the track. With so much more on offer ‘Untouchable’ feat. See-I, finds itself as the final track on the album, but in perfect position to be the tune that gives your mind time to reflect on the amazing music you’ve just experienced.
As mentioned above, we have 5 free copies of this awesome album to give away to you all and we’re gonna keep it pretty straight forward. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning one of these copies is pop a comment at the bottom of this posting saying – Funk 4 Peace -. 5 names will be drawn out of a hat at 7pm (GMT) on Friday 13th of October. It’s gonna be a lucky day for some of you out there so get your entries in! The winners will be announced on our Facebook page. Good luck everyone!
