Timber Edits Vol 1

When Australia’s Timber isn’t playing or making music for people to dance to, he can be found putting his sound design and composition skills to great effect on games such as the popular Bioshock and Borderland series. Although we have featured music by Timber on the ward before on That’s Not An Edit‘s amazing self-titled compilation albums, we’ve never shone the spotlight on him directly, so to put that right, we bring you the brilliant ‘Timber Edits Vol 1’.

‘Timber Edits Vol 1’ is a free album that brings together 10 of his favourite edits from his collection and showcases his skills in revitalising golden oldies from times gone by. Opening the album is two of our favourites from it which are Timber’s most recent edit, a super-fine funky midtempo Breaks take on The Sisters Love‘s sunshine-filled Motown number ‘You’ve Got To Make The Choice’ and the oldest edit on the album, an easy-going and soulful Reggae influenced Breaks spin on The Marvels cover of ‘Rocksteady’ by Aretha Franklin. Also, keep an ear out for his classy and jazzy edit of ‘Too Late To Turn Back’ by El Michels Affair that oozes sophistication, his edit of Placebo‘s 1971 classic ‘Humpty Dumpty’ that’s all about beats, brass and a retro Funk feel and his edit of ‘Blackberry Jam’ by Leroy Hutson that’s all about that funky bassline and the groove it provides with a strong brass accompaniment.

With even more quality tracks to be found on ‘Timber Edits Vol 1’ and in his back catalogue, you’ll be pleased you stopped by see what Timber is all about.
