V/A – Swing & Bass Compilation Album Vol. 2 (Swing & Bass)

London based Swing & Bass makes its return with volume 2 of its self-titled compilation series and onboard are 21 free tracks that fuse the frivolous sound of the ’30s and ’40s with the filth created by modern-day production techniques brilliantly! The album is predominantly made up of Drum and Bass tracks, but scattered throughout are a few Glitch Hop and Bass House bangers to spice things up even further. Swing & Bass boss man Fizzy Gillespie has also provided an excellent DJ mix of the album that you can own when you own the all of the music.

As mentioned, DnB fans are well catered for and a few rip-snorting tracks you can expect to hear in that style include a remix of The Exciters Soul jam Blowing Up My Mind by Fizzy Gillespie that’s all about the skank and bounce! Mista Trick is a master at the fusion of DnB and Swing and his sharp and sophisticated remix of I’ve Got You Under My Skin by Ella Fitzgerald is as classy as they come. Phil Mac’s fun and feisty remix of My Definition Of A Bombastic Jazz Style by Dream Warriors is another track that will have you leaping off the sofa to enjoy to the fullest, just like Extra Medium & WBBL’s speaker-ripping remix of The Beat Goes On by The All Seeing I. Even more craziness can be heard from the likes of Dom James & Odylic Force, Freek & Kit, Breaksmith, Ed Spinna and more!

Stepping away from DnB but still maintaining a high level of filth are tracks like Skank Spinatra‘s wonky Bass House stomper Get Stacked, Don Johnston & Joe Alias‘ earth-shattering Glitch Hop tune Fields feat. dat Brass, Jimi Needles’ swinging and hot-steppin’ Happy Feet and Crash Party’s floor-filling Bass House offering Accentuate are amongst a few others who give a different perspective on how a bassline should be presented. Great times are guaranteed

You can download the whole album for free on the link below, but if you can afford to chip in a few quid, all proceeds are going towards helping music venues across the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic.

: I'm Sid, a dude from Lincolnshire. I'll be bringing you music from the perspective of the dance floor, the place I love to be most! I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to. Selection and connection is the name of the game.
