VA-The Grooveyard Vol 1 [DEAD TRAX]

From bumpy UKG to fierce DnB, Dead Trax’ debut VA is essential!

This fine VA opens with some cut up UKG/2 Step sounds c/o Earthnut. The Ten Levels mix of Harrta ‘Aku Dub’ stays on the UKG tip with more of a sub heavy chuggin 4×4 vibe while things really heat up on the dark roll out of Grave Grooves ’66’ with the analogue bass turned up to plus 10 and the organs suitably spookified.

Hot on the heels with some breakstep action is Harrta with the soulful skank of ‘If You.’ Local Group turn up the fire with one of the best tracks on this VA, the amen fuelled, Cutty Ranks sampling speed garage banger ‘Fire.’ The VA switches into Proto Rave 1990 style with the acidic breaks of Perignon’s ‘Glow Worm.’

Next up is yet another stand out track from the comp, Agora’s 2020 take on 90’s rave ‘Reach 4 The Lasers’ combines elements of Jungle, Hardcore and Techno into an out and out rave banger!!! We enter the jungle with the ultra atmospheric and layered Digital Diógenes & Hartta ‘Running Wild’ followed by some dark junglistic footwork bizznizz in Margari’s Kid ‘Serotonin.’

More intricate and energetic Footwork Jungle up next on the incredible beats of Grave Grooves ‘Fuel’ where super slick drum programming meets horny jazz. From here, its dark Metalheadz style DnB kicking off with the brilliantly unsettling San ‘Everybody Out.’

Lo Chi’s ‘After Effects’ transports us back to 1999/2000 in the middle of a Grooverider set of haunting heavy drums and scary ambience. We come to the end with a bit of back to mine chill via the mellow Future Garage/Broken Beats of the blissful dubby ‘Homecoming’ by Occitanie. A truly amazing LP which you can get on either cassette or digi, Pre Orders open now.
