Vintage Video Games #1 – Flashback (1992)

A new feature on the blog from myself, Fifties. Anyone that follows me on Facebook, may know i am a big fan of retro games … from my first 286 PC to my current PS3 … I just love them! Hopefully this will take a few of you down memory lane as i cast my mind back to some of my favorites over the years. First up is ‘Flashback’ from 1992 by Delphine Software and U.S. Gold.

Revolutionary for it’s time, it’s fluid animation and hand drawn backgrounds put this cinematic platformer in a league of it’s own.

Plot: In a jungle on planet Titan, the main character awakens completely unaware of who he is. After a short journey he discovers a holocube which informs him that his name is Conrad B. Conrad discovered a plot to destroy the earth by shape shifting aliens disguised themselves as government officials. Getting captured and having his memory erased – it’s a good job he uploaded a copy and gave it to his friend Ian! The holocube message ends with the instruction to travel to New Washington to meet with Ian and retrieve his memories … so the story begins ….

null

Highlights: Entering the Death Tower gameshow in order to get enough money to return to earth.
