Vintage Video Games #14 – Super Street Fighter II (The New Challengers)
Hadoken folks! Back with Vintage Video Games this week we have the classic beat em up ‘Street Fighter II – The New Challengers’ from 1994 following on from following ‘Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting’. We see an additional 4 charters being added to the line up (T.Hawk, Cammy, Dee Jay and Fei Long).
Further refining the balance between characters and introducing additional new features, the stages and character portraits both get new graphics. The music and sound effects were also remade.
Each character now has available eight color schemes, depending on which button is pressed to select the character. Players could choose between a character’s original color scheme.
Story Line: To become the greatest warrior in the world, each character with their own mission for example Dhalsim representing India to raise money for his poor village or Chun-li representing China to get revenge on big boss M.Bison. Simple!
Highlights: Great character design and those great and memorable moves – Yoga Flame, Spinning Bird Kick and of course Hadoken!
