Viper Recordings – The Sound Of Drum & Bass 2016 + The Sound Of Hip Hop – Octi-Pi Top 5

After the huge success of the launch of ‘The Sound Of Drum & Bass‘ series last year, Viper Recordings knew that the only thing to do was to assemble another album of equal stature. Label boss, Futurebound, set to work and soon rounded up a collection of the most electric sounding Drum n Bass tracks that are out there right now from many stars on the labels roster, both established artists and several rising stars in the scene. The likes of Smooth, Trei, Mob Tactics and BMotion, just to name a few, deservedly sit alongside label heavyweights such as, Noisia, The Upbeats, Cyantific, The Prototypes, InsideInfo, Mefjus, Tantrum Desire and Rene LaVice, again, naming just a few.

The action shows no sign of relenting there though as, Futurebound, has landed 12 massive exclusives with, J MajikWickaman, Killer Hertz, Toronto Is Broken and North Base being just a few to land a spot on an already bulging album. In total you get 29 blistering D n B tracks and if that wasn’t enough, Futurebound has put together a dj mix of the album, just for good measure! You’re not gonna get much more bang for your buck than ‘The Sound Of Drum & Bass 2016’, go make it yours! (Tracklist for the album can be found at the bottom of the page)

Buy ‘The Sound Of Drum & Bass 2016’ here.

Also featuring on the album is another one of the rising stars, Octo-Pi, who also has one of the 12 exclusives to be found with his heavy track ‘Pay Off’ feat. Modify Perspective. Taking a break from all the D n B mayhem, Octo-Pi has kindly provided us with his ‘Top 5’ Hip Hop tracks, just to ease things off before hitting the album hard for another spin.

Octi-Pi Top 5 ‘Sound Of Hip Hop Tracks :

Ocean Widsom – Walkin (Prod Dirty Dike) :

Love this track, he has such a wicked flow, topped with Dike’s production, that drone-like bass is an amazing sound.

DJ Format & Abdominal – Ugly Brother :

I bought this album ‘ If you can’t join ’em, beat ’em’ on vinyl when it first came out, even to this day I’m still listening to it frequently. This track especially as it takes me back to my open mic days of covering an acoustic guitar version with my friend Martin Stockdale back in my home town of Swansea.

Mr Glyphix – Mr Big Chips :

This is a side project of D&B Producer AKOV with Twitchee Cordz, both very good friends of mine and extremely talented with it. The whole ‘Weekend Warriors’ EP is fantastic, it’s nice to see fun being put back into Hip Hop, it really reflects in this track! Really sick video too!!

LEVELZ – LVL 07 :

The whole album is ace! This track however still remains my favourite. These guys are killing it right now, tight production and still with a sense of humour, a perfect combination.

Trafic MC – Take A Swig And Pass It On :

Trafic MC is a ridiculous artist, so much talent with this guy, I work with him quite a lot, and again he’s a very close friend of mine. This track showcases himself and so many other ridiculous MC’s, Texas, Twitchee, Impact, Mr Inglorious, Bluejay, Y Dott, & Big Hypes, everyone absolutely nails it!
