Wayne Smith – Under me Sleng Teng (DJ Kobayashi Edit)

London based DJ Kobayashi is a producer whose musical influences are some of the widest ranging we’ve ever come across, as it seems no part of the world is safe when he’s on the hunt for inspiration to make new music. As a member of Gypsy Hill, the Mediterranean and Balkan sounds used by the group spill over into his own music, but you can also expect to hear Swing, Disco, Jazz, Blues and Drum n Bass influenced music on his Soundcloud page and it’s Drum n Bass we have for you with this free track posted.

Wayne Smith‘s seminal 1985 riddim ‘Under Mi Sleng Teng’ is one of the most recorded of all time and was one of the very first entirely digitally produced riddims. Most will recognise the ‘way in my brain’ line as the sample SL2 used for their rave classic of the same name back in 1991, but with DJ Kobayashi’s party-popping D n B edit, you now have another track that’ll spring immediately to your mind when the original riddim os brought up in conversation, or when one of your mates just happens to sing ‘way in my braaaiaaan’!

Be sure to get the full DJ Kobayashi experience on the links below. Minds will be opened!

About the Author

: I'm Sid, a dude from Lincolnshire. I'll be bringing you music from the perspective of the dance floor, the place I love to be most! I've no production or DJ experience, but I do know a bloody good tune when I hear one and if I connect with it, I'll share it in the hope you connect with it to. Selection and connection is the name of the game.
