X-Ray Ted – Mirror Ballin’ EP (Bombstrikes)

Bombstrikes amazing 15-year anniversary album hasn’t been far from our sound system since it was released a few weeks back and now the funky imprint returns with another trio of tracks that are gonna take their place high on our playlists for a good while to come. Those 3 tracks come from Bristolian X-Ray Ted and can be found on his brand new fully-funked ‘Mirror Ballin’ EP.

Whereas X-Ray Ted’s last visit was all about filthy Glitch Hop, his new EP is very much a Funk thang! The first of the tracks is the title track of the EP and as the title suggests, there’s a heavy Disco influence running throughout it, which clearly makes it the grooviest tune out of the 3. Next up is the sampletastic ‘Get Into It’ and although the tempo has been dropped a touch, this slice of swaggering Soul will seduce you in seconds. ‘Never Gonna Let Em Say’ is the finale of this fine EP and ends things with kick-heavy broken beats, stone-cold cool guitar riffs and the funk firing on all cylinders! Quality stuff as always from Mr Ted, we’re sure you’ll agree?
