Bass Funk, Vol. 5: Curated by Krafty Kuts (Bombstrikes)

The teasing has gone on long enough and we can now announce that Bombstrikes’ latest instalment of its Bass Funk series that has this time been curated by legendary beat-breaker Krafty Kuts has landed! With 27 speaker-testing tracks and one expertly executed DJ mix also provided by the funky-technician himself, we can only hope that you have understanding neighbours.

The first sighting of Bass Funk Vol 5 came about a few weeks back when it was spotted on Bandcamp. Like lots of early releases on there, only a couple of preview tracks had been made available till its release date which of course meant we were all left chomping at the bit before we could could finally sink our teeth into the multi-layered Funk & Bass cake on offer. After taking a decent bite ourselves, the flavours that are present are off the scale and it’s packing a kick alright!

As you might expect, with Krafty Kuts calling the shots on this album, there was never going to any shortage of big tunes from lots of household names from the Bass and Funk scenes. Taking us on a journey from heavyweight midtempo Breaks, we’re taken through the bpm scale to a raucous DnB finish by a global cast of producers who are all being held responsible for the filth you’re about to receive! High-rollers of the game like Haywyre, Opiuo, Dubra and The Noisy Freaks are joined by a strong North American contingent that includes Kotek, Fort Knox Five, K+lab, The Funk Hunters and Stickybuds! The UK is represented in full-effect by the likes of Delta Heavy, A.Skillz, Shaka Loves You, WBBL and of course Krafty himself, who has let a few exclusives out the bag like his superb remix of Stretch & Vern‘s ’90s classic I’m Alive. Just like all of the music on Bass Funk Vol 5, that is a track not to be missed!
