From what we can gather, Basscoffee is a brand new Drum n Bass collective made up of five producers who are setting out on a joint mission to not only bring us Drum and Bass, but also Breakbeat, Funk, Hip Hop and Reggae music too. Their first offering as a collective though is very much all about Drum and Bass as they present their ‘Turn Up The Bass’ EP that is made of four red hot bootlegs that demand you turn up the bass!
Basscoffee’s opening gambit on their impressive EP is a high octane and full-blooded spin on Skrillex & Damian Marley‘s ‘Make It Bun Dem’, which takes us swiftly on to a darker and menacing take on Notorious B.I.G‘s ‘Who Shot Ya’. The next two bootlegs of Pegboard Nerds‘ ‘Gunslinga’ and Jo Mersa & Yohan Marley‘s ‘Burn It Down’ sees the energy cranked back up to the max and if floor fillers are what you’re after, they’ll do the job!
With a brilliantly executed debut EP under their belts, we can’t wait to hear what else Basscoffee has in store.
