Best Of Toolroom 2019 mixed by Maxine

Maxine curates and mixes some of the finest House and Techno of 2019 for Toolroom

Here at LSM, we always look forward to new Toolroom compilations and this 2019 retrospective is very special! Maxine sets the controls for the heart of the sun with a selection of tunes that ought to be quarantined for their dangerous levels of heat!

The journey begins with Cevin Fisher and Jack Back taking on a house classic with ‘2000 Freaks Come Out’ followed by a funk trunk of a Mark Knight/Danny Howard collab ‘You Can Do It Baby’

Leftwing: Jody ‘I Feel It’ is an absolute anthem which you can expect to hear as the clock turns twelve on December the 31st. KC Lights captures the raw energy of Hip Hop and injects it into house banger ‘SOL’ and Hannah Wants & Kevin Knapp channel freaky bass tones and tight bars for ‘Call Me’

Illyus & Barrientos employ screeching divas and thunderous beats for ‘Shout’ before the intense organs of Maxine ‘Something In Our Life’ with power packing vocals by Niki Darling and Weiss’ incredible cover of the house classic ‘Let Me Love You’

Alan Fitzpatrick and Wheats pay tribute to the 90s rave scene with techno stomper ‘M27’, Mark Knight reworks Booka Shade ‘Tresspass ‘ into an unstoppable big room anthem, Martin Ikin is in full classic piano house mode with ‘How I Feel’ featuring breathtaking vocals from Hayley May.

You can’t go wrong with the chugging tribal tinged vocal house of Ben Remember ‘It Ain’t Easy’ or the steel pan groove of Silash & Doppe ‘Aquella’ nor can you fault the ravey tech house brilliance of E;i Brown ‘Always’

This whole album is a perfect showcase of Maxine’s diverse selector skills as demonstrated by the chuggy beats of Amine Edge & DANCE ‘Don’t Go’, Mark Knight’s roof raising rework of Mr Roy ‘Something About You’ and Todd Terry/Tuff London collab ‘Psychodrama’

A personal fave here at LSM is the bleepy ‘Rave Me’ by PAX and Alex Mills, Danny Howard and Illyus & Barrientos super collab ‘Need’ is all the best parts of a modern house tune personified. For funky vibes, Kideko ticks the box with ‘Give It Up’ followed by another superb jam from that absolute superstar, Maxine whose ‘Just Wanna’ gives the old NYC House style a fresh, fly facelift.

Cevin Fisher & Toolroom fave, Seige deliver a driving deep tech gem with ‘Conciousness’, the ever versatile Sharam Jey, Andruss & Dewitt Sound deliver a rugged, twisted US Bass Tech bomb with ‘Right Back’ and Friend Within provides another piano house masterclass with ‘Waiting’

Another LSM fave is the breakbeat driven, Reese bass monster, ‘Guess Who’s Jack’ by Tube & Berger. Mark Knight’s ‘The Mystery Of Ma Clifton’ brings it back to the organ House style of the mid 90s in energetic fashion. In a similar vein is Tuff London’s ‘Something’ employing tuff grooves and progressive synth leads plus a dash of disco. The Golden Boy gets ‘Piano Loco’ with their track of the same name, a peaking slice of non stop ivory tickling intensity!

Other highlights on this momentous album include Javi Bora’s chunky slammer ‘Blasting’, disco tech fire from Cashio, R&B infused tech house from Seige, string laden brilliance from Dossem, heavyweight Hip Hop House from Frederick & Kusse plus a literal tonne more and on point mixes from Maxine! 2019 is a wrap!
