If you need to flick that chip off your shoulder and bury the hatchet with bad times, there’s nothing better to help you do that than by having Daytoner piped direct into your ears to make the world a better place today and forever more.
Here with some of that mood lifting music we have the second single off the bands debut album ‘Off The Hook’. If you caught our review of the first single ‘Needed You’ a few weeks back and loved the Northern Soul sound they brought to that track, it’s great news for you because ‘Second Stomp’ is another track that harnesses that intensely infectious energy perfectly. Longtime Daytoner fans will instantly recognise that the new track was once called ‘Stevies Stomp’ which featured on Moss Daytoner’s ‘Shedits Vol 1’ EP. In it’s present guise though, after being stripped right back, you’ll find a superbly reworked and remade version by the band to accompany the Soul fire that is provided by Lucy Richards new lyrics.
The second track to be found is ‘I Get By’ which was first released on Craig Charles’ ‘Funk & Soul Club Vol. 5’ compilation album a few months back. It’s another fine rework of the bands of a familiar Funk groove that once again features the brilliant vocal of Lucy’s, as she gives us her tale of staying strong.
Both tracks are once again available on digital format, or on 7″ vinyl, the choice is yours.
Daytoner’s new album is out on the 20th July and we’ll bring you a full review on it’s release date, but if you want to give it a listen and pre-order it, check it out here :
