Delfonic & Kapote – Illegal Jazz Vol. 3 (Toy Tonics)

Illegal Jazz is an EP series that was created by former OYE Records impresario Delfonic and Toy Tonics’ bossman Kapote to release some of their epic reworks of rare Jazz, Soul, Funk and Disco tracks that were once only found in their private collections. With the rare gems remoulded in a way that makes the spirit of the original live on strong while exciting the dancefloors of today, the duo decided from the offset to release their music digitally and on vinyl so that DJs of all ages could get a piece of the action. Because the vinyl runs have been limited and because the music has been so good, vinyl copies have sold out in no time!

Because of the popularity of volumes one and two, we now find ourselves with a third volume and although the vinyl copies of this one are currently sold out, the four tracks you can own digitally are well worth having in your collections! There’s an air of sophistication and coolness about all of the music you can own and bringing those vibes from the get-go is a sun-kissed and groove-laden rework of Earth, Wind & Fire’s dreamy Disco classic Sun Goddess. Next is a cheery take on Morning Broadway by Keith Mansfield that begins as a top-tapper and then progresses into a piece of music that’ll keep the shufflers busy on the floor. With the intensity stoked up, it’s the duos smokin’ hot rework of the Soul Tornados’ funky groove Hot Pants Breakdown that follows and to complete the classy quartet, things get even more lively with a Disco makeover of Say A Prayer For Two by Crown Heights Affair that’s a certified floor filler is ever there was one!

Word is that there is a repress of volume 3 coming in March, so if that’s how you want to own it, give the guys a follow on the links below so as not to miss out.
