DJ X Cess brings the Hardcore vibes with Music Is Moving/Rise Up on Burning Bush Communications
As you might have guessed from the title, ‘Music Is Moving’ updates the much loved Fargetta tune into a Hardcore Jungle amen smasher swung in on the vine. The landlord riffs and vocal are present and correct with a elephantine dose of bass so utterly filthy, you’re going to need some industrial strength cleaner and a COSSH handbook!
‘Rise Up’ is quite different. Despite the common connection between Roots/Dub Reggae and UK Rave, its rare to hear an out and out Roots tune with Hardcore Breaks but that’s what you get here. A somewhat spiritual dubby riddim meets the mayhem of Hardcore while striking just the right balance. The lyrics of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince ‘Summertime’ come to mind here: “Just a little somethin’ to break the monotony of all that hardcore dance that has gotten to be A little bit out of control..”
