Dj XS – Funk Nuggets EP (Funky Vibes UK)

If you’re after some music that you can really get your teeth stuck into, may we suggest this incredibly moreish selection of ‘Funk Nuggets’ found on Dj XS’ brand new 5 track EP?

Handpicking 5 classics from the ’70, ’80s and ’00s to work his magic on for his new EP, Dj XS begins by giving a fresh lick of Funk and a fuller 4/4 kick to Booker Newbury III‘s smooth groove Love Town. Next, comes a hot-steppin’ and shoulder-shakin’ re-edit of Gloria Gaynor’s sizzling Anybody Wanna Party? that’s followed by the slick and punchy makeover of Just Can’t Stay Away by Don Blackman. A lush and lights-down-low vibe has been applied to the penultimate track on the EP which is a downtempo take on Michael Wycoff’s classic Looking Up To You. The final track is a bonus addition to the EP and this funky and horn-heavy Breaks re-edit of Bo Diddley’s brilliant Hit Or Miss is every bit the bonus it’s intended to be!

Once you’re suitably filled with these nuggets, head over to his Bandcamp page and tuck into even more that are found on a series of EPs and when you’re done with them, head over to Dj XS’ YouTube page where you’ll find tons of Funk and Disco mixes and guest mixes on his Funky Vibes UK page.
