Eclectic Ballroom & Charters Bar Presents: The Allergies and Madame Electrifie (Dj Sets) 18/02/22

Eclectic Ballroom and Charters Bar are teaming up once again to bring another epic night of fun, Funk and Disco to the dancefloor of Charters Bar in Peterborough, by this time welcoming Madame Electrifie and The Allergies to the decks of the popular nightspot on the 18th February. Both Madame Electrifie and The Allergies will need no introduction to our regular readers because you will have seen me share lots of their musical pursuits over the last few years, but below you can get acquainted with them and some of their all-important music should you need to do so.

The 18th of February is the date to pop in your diaries and after popping along to the Pimpsoul and A.Skillz party last year at Charters Bar, I can tell you that this is going to be another lively one. Supporting DJ’s on the night include Murray Watson, Tom Barret and Zed & Jim aka Eclectic Ballroom. I’ve seen all of those guys play and getting down early to catch those guys is highly recommended because they’re all well versed when it comes to knowing how to stoke up a party!

This party is a ticket only event and should you be interest in going, you can get one by Clicking Here

So, without further ado, let’s get to know a little more about the headlining legends…

Madame Electrifie has been spinning tunes and lighting up dancefloors for some 18 years now and started out playing Breakbeat under her original alias DJ Litlle Jo and during the peak of clubbing in the UK, could be found spinning at legendary venues such as Tunrmills, The Cross and Ministry of Sound. As her career has progressed, festivals have come more and more into the equation and as well as dropping sets at Glastonbury, Bestival, Truefest, Nozstock, Wilderness and Shambala, she has also hosted stages at Boomtown and Beatherder.

Featured above is the most recent studio mix from Madame Electrifie which just happens to be a perfect example of the type of music she is prepared to lay down in order to make sure the dancefloor faithful are having the best time ever! The mix was recorded for the Free From Sleep crew in the run-up to her supporting the legendary Stanton Warriors and Plump Djs in London last year and I can say that all who played that afternoon smashed it because I was there!

Madame Electrifie can also be found DJing alongside her partner in crime Mini Da Minx under their Evil Twin guise and playing in her Trip Hop/Electronica band Cassini Circles and if you’re a Twitch fan, you can catch her dropping a chilled selection of beats on her Saturday Morning Twitchin’ show every Saturday morning 11:30am – 14:00pm (GMT).

When it comes to The Allergies, there’s not much more I can say other than I bloody love Rackabeat and Moneyshot and I’m not afraid to type it out loud! Over the last few years, their brand of Funk, Hip Hop and Breaks they’ve released across 5 incredible albums has not only made me extremely happy but many, many others also! Often filled with horns, samples and crisp drums, The Allergies are occasionally joined by some of their supremely talented friends on their music productions with two of the more prominent artists being the incredible Marietta Smith and the lyrical wizard Andy Cooper.

Should you need to get acquainted with what The Allergies are all about, I highly recommend getting stuck into their 5th studio album Promised Land featured above. Released in the autumn of 2021, the 13 tracks on the album were all created during the many lockdowns of 2020 and with so much uncertainty and stress around, their aim was to make music that would take the listener away from the real world and walk hand in hand to the promised land and that they did! The highlights reel is a showstopper from start to finish but tracks to look out for include the party-rockin’, shoulder-swayin’ album opener Lean On Me feat. Dynamite MC, the effervescent and horn-toting Love Somebody, the soul-storming Hip Hop joint Are You Ready feat. Marietta Smith and Andy Cooper, the full-on party Breaks rocker Jumping Off and track of the album Going To The Party feat. Lyrics Born. That one is worth the entrance fee alone!

As well as making lots of music for the party, they also know how to bring the party when called upon and they to have found themselves rocking many of the biggest and best festivals and clubs both as a DJ duo and with their excellent band. The Allergies are also on Twitch and have a more pop-up approach to their stream which means it’s well worth giving them a follow so as not to miss a show.
