Back in August of this year, Washington, DC legends Fort Knox Five teamed up with the incredible Emily Molloy on their sublime summertime single “Playin’ With Fire” and as with every Fort Knox Five single, a remix or two will follow not too long after. On this occasion, they’ve enlisted a couple of chaps from the UK to take on remix duties, Glitch Hop party-rocker WBBL and primetime funkster X-Ray Ted!
Stepping up first is WBBL and although his music is quite often prone to turning bass faces inside out, his remix of “Playin’ With Fire” has a liquid Glitch vibe that gives it a slightly smoother feel than normal but fear not, because there’s plenty in the tank of this chunky 105bpm banger to get those booty’s shaking!
X-Ray Ted has been lacing a lot of his music with Bboy style breakbeats for a while now which always guarantees the party flavour packs the maximum amount of punch as it can. His remix cranks the original up to a shoe-smokin’ 115bpm and opens the funk taps to their fullest and leaves the listener with no doubts that they have to get down to this one!
