Funk N’ Beats Vol 5: The Allergies (Album Mini Mix)

Bombstrikes are relentless in their pursuit to bring us Funk excellence with their ‘Funk N’Beats’ album series by tracking down some of the top purveyors of a sound we have a whole lot of love for here on the ward. For volume 5, the imprint has enlisted a couple of heads who know exactly how to funk things up good and proper, The Allergies.

Our love for both Bombstrikes and The Allergies has been documented many times here on our blog, so when we first clapped eyes on this album, excitement levels hit an all time high! We already knew it was going to be a special album and the 25 tracks on it met all our expectations with ease.

With such an abundance of quality Funk, Soul and Hip Hop music on the album from the old to the new, it’s hard to single out any particular tracks. A few that we do highly recommend though is the Funk rocket that is Marc Hype’s edit of ‘Funky Thang’, The Kill Meters tripped out funk rocker ‘Dance Move Shake’, Ancient Astronauts foot stomping remix of Fort Know Five’s ‘Blowing Up The Spot’ and The Traffic’s full on horn rendition of The Prodigy’s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’.

Other artists to feature on the album include Featurecast, Flevans, The Haggis Horns, Doc Brown, Syntax, Djar One, DJ Format & Abdominal, Flow Dynamics, Soopasoul plus many more. Of course, with it being an album compiled by The Allergies, they to feature heavily with original tunes of theirs like ‘Love Supposed To Be’ and ‘Why You Buggin’ feat their good friend Andy Cooper, who himself plays a large part in making this album sound so good. There is also a few remixes from the guys, including their own take on one of my favourites tracks of theirs ‘Blast Off’. The work for The Allergies doesn’t stop there though as when you buy the album, you also get a one hour DJ mix which has to be said, is pretty damn special itself.

If ever there was an album to be played on pleasantly warm sun filled day, this must be it! Go grab your copy now!

If you quite like the artwork and have thought to yourself “that would look good on a t-shirt”, good news! Bombstrikes a doing a limited run on t-shirts with the artwork emblazoned on the front. If you want one, get it here >>> Funk N’ Beats Vol 5 T’-shirts.
