HNQO – The Old Door

HNQO’s ‘The Old Door’ could easily be one of the best leftfield house & techno albums of 2017. The combination of off kilter jazz influenced beats, lush vocals and fresh soundscapes will have you hooked from the get go.

HNQO’s ‘The Old Door’ sounds and feels like it should have been an inclusion on the soundtrack for season three of Twin Peaks! It’s not that an album of house and techno reminds the listener of Roni Size/Reprazent’s seminal 97 Drum & Bass opus ‘New Forms’- yet there are noticeable similarities. The smoke filled jazz bar vocals of the title track bear similarities to the vocal style of ‘Watching Windows’ and in other places on this fantastic LP sound like David Lynch embracing modern dance music i.e a brilliant concept that should happen! Weird in a good way and absolutely wonderful!
