‘Elephunk Trip’ is the 2018 LP by the multi-talented Bulgarian producer Koka Mass Jazz. Originally a digital/CD only release on Timewarp Music, the funky, soulful and jazzy 7 track LP now finds itself being released on 12″ vinyl, with 3 bonus tracks added that can only be yours once you’ve snapped up this must have record.
The 3 bonus tracks include a stripped back version of Koka Mass Jazz’s ultra-funky ‘Summer Soul’ which now sees the percussive elements, the slick bass guitar work and the awesome Tiffany Blu really come to the fore to provide a sultry lounge influenced jam. The next bonus track is a remix from label head honcho Timewarp Inc of the LP opener ‘Play The Game’ that once again features Tiffany Blu. Timewarp gives strength to the broken beats and dials in a slight cosmic vibe to the already funked up original. The final bonus track is an instrumental of Timewarp’s remix which will allow those who want to get creative to do just that.
If you missed the LP first time around, Koka Mass Jazz is also joined two more extremely talented vocalists in Boyan Levchev and Krista. Boyan joins him on a couple of funky Hip Hop tunes with ‘Getting Better’ being the first and ‘Why’ being the second. Krista joins him with two strictly soulful gems on ‘Fight The Fire’ and ‘Day And Night’. The final track is one of Koka’s very own and bringing jazzy brass and crisp broken beats with an uptempo groove ‘At This Moment’ takes its place alongside and a seriously impressive selection of tracks.
