Omegaman – Babylon Don’t Interfere EP

It has been quite a while now since Sydney based Omegaman has released any music on Fort Knox Recordings, so to see this new 2 track ‘Babylon Don’t Interfere’ EP from him land on the label is a real treat for fans of his. The 2 tracks are an amalgamation of Funky Breaks, Reggae and talented vocalists and instrumentalists which create always welcomed easy-going, downtempo vibes.

The first of the tracks is the title track on the EP and it features Desi Hyson on vocals, who any die-hard fan of Reggae will recognise as the vocalist and keyboardist for The Original Wailers, either by name or by his distinctive vocal delivery. On Omegaman’s ultra cool roots-rocker, Desi tells his tale of his rejection of Babylonian corruption with skanking guitars provided by Marty Fabok (The OzSkas//Allniters) and backing vocals and sax from Katherine Vavahea and Scott Russell (Red Wine Roses).

‘Happy Ending Whisper’ is the second track and this one features the sublime vocal of Washington, DC’s soulstress Edy Blu. Edy had been on a trip around the world with her guitar, soaking up sights, sounds, and influences when she stopped off at Omegaman’s Studio 57 in Sydney. During their time together they sat down and wrote the beautifully crafted and uplifting track as an ode to their dearly departed friend Jon Horvath and the resulting track is just perfect. Word is that more of this kind of lushness is in the pipeline, as Omegaman and Edy are currently working on new music which we can’t wait to hear!
