New Orleans-based Professor Shorthair has been on a roll since his debut 45rpm was released in 2014 on his label Superjock Records. Known for his high-quality and Hip Hop influenced remixes of Funk and Soul classics from his hometown, his back catalogue is brimmed with some of the funkiest tracks on the planet and to celebrate a few of the biggest ones, Professor Shorthair presents NOLA Beaks: The Funkilation.
Available to own digitally and on limited 12″ vinyl, the 10-track album features an all-star lineup with classic remixes of The Meter’s – Hand Clapping Song – Ernie K-Doe’s – Here Come The Girls – Dr John’s – Right Place Wrong Time – and Jean Knight’s – Do Me – and The Wild Magnolias – Injuns, Here We Come – which itself is making its vinyl debut. Joining the other classy tracks is a superb remix of Diamond Joe’s – Gossip, Gossip – which has never been released before and if you’ve loved all that you’ve heard before, you’ll particularly enjoy the way this one ends the epic Funk expedition.
