Saigon Show Band – Superstition (FunkBro Wartime Regroove)

Since the beginning of the year, Philly based Retro Roland Riso has been releasing his free Funk tracks under the moniker of Funk Bro to draw attention to his radio show of the same name that airs every Friday at 4pm (EST) on Radioactive FM and his most recent piece of work will have new listeners flocking to the airwaves we’re sure!

The track in question is a truly intoxicating Funky Breaks remix of the Saigon Show Band‘s incredible Funk cover of Stevie Wonder’s classic Superstition. The cover version was recorded back in the time of the Vietnam War and also featured on the super rare G.I Funk compilation album from 2004 on Payback Recordings. That album featured a selection of bands who entertained the troops during the war and showed that it wasn’t just badass Psychedelic Rock that was popular, but also damn fine Funk too! Thanks to RRR’s mighty fine regroove, we too can now get a small taste as to just how funky things were during that period in time and just how good Saigon Show Band really were.
