That’s Not An Edit returns with volume 15 of its self-titled compilation series and brings so much music, you’re gonna need a bigger stocking! In total, we’ve got 23 re-edits of Funk, Hip Hop, Disco and Reggae classics on our hands from household names of the re-edit scene and a few that might be new to you. As always, the entire compilation is free to download over on Soundcloud and available to buy in higher quality format over on Bandcamp.
Just like all of the previous volumes, the music is damn good from start to finish and it caters for those who love music to relax to and for those who prefer their beats to be more energetic. At the downtempo end of the scale, we’ve got amongst other delights of that nature, tracks like Jam Chamber’s deep and cosmic Somebody To Love, Flushmaster Soup’s lush and heavenly Just Dreaming and the low-slung Funk grunt of JR Dynamite’s Chump Change.
Taking things up a few gears, we’ve got several Funk and Disco led heaters like Frankee More’s bumpin’ and groovin’ Final Edition, Downunder Disco’s red-hot Disco rocket Reel Good People, the always fat and funky Breaks in Pecoe’s Average Money and the ultra-classy Disco stomper Bourgie Bourgie from D-Funk to name just a few in that ballpark. Hats off to BoogieKnights for track of the comp though with a Chic vs Whitney Houston Disco mashup that will definitely bring a buzz about the dance floor when we get to return to them once more.
Pour yourself a cold one (or a hot one if you’re in the northern hemisphere) and get digging into this quality collection to either find your favourites or to maybe bank them all.
