After digging through many Bandcamp emails and hunting for new music in the regular spots, I discovered this nugget filled honey hole of funk, hip hop and disco edits on volume 16 of That’s Not An Edit’s self-titled compilation series. Many of you will know how things go down with these comps and on this occasion, the Australian imprint serves up 22 free tracks from a bunch of generous and talented producers who reside in and are from that part of the world.
We always get a heavy blend of bbq flavoured beats with a few festival field fillers mixed in on That’s Not An Edit’s epic compilations meaning that there’s something for everyone to enjoy. For those of you looking to fill your playlists with easy-going tunes for those lush afternoons with good friends and good food in plentiful supply, look out for cool cuts like DJ Bacon’s smooth The Roots vs The Lulus Band edit, Meem’s sun-drenched Dawn Penn inspired edit, Timbers stunning spin on Inell Young’s classic What Do You See In Her and DJ Soup’s afro-funk heater Calaba Calabao amongst many others.
If it’s music you need to get festival-goers kicking up the dust this summer, Pecoe’s groovin’ Saturday Vibrations will get them well on the way to doing just that, as will Boogie Knights anthemic disco-house offering You Give Good Love and Kenny From The Block’s sleazy Disco jam Acid Love. Track of the comp comes from Boogie Knights’ side project Farrat One. Most Precious Love is a heady hedonistic groove that’ll melt the hearts and minds of clubbers the world over! Dig in proper though folks because there are many more nuggets just waiting to be discovered.
